AUDIT Benjamin
Director of Research at Centre National de la Recherche Scienti que (DR2, CNRS)
Laboratoire de Physique de l'Ecole Normale Supéerieure de Lyon, CNRS UMR 5672

Benjamin Audit received his master in engineering from Ecole Supérieure d'Eletricité (Supelec) and his master of science from University Pierre et Marie Curie (Patis VI) in 1995. He completed his PhD in physics (Docteur ès Sciences, Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris VI) in 2000. He obtained his diploma of \Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches" (HDR, accreditation to supervise research) from ENS de Lyon in 2012. He was a postdoctoral research associate at the European Bioinformatics Institute (Cambridge, UK) in 2000-2003 and was awarded a Marie Curie fellowship (2001-2003). He joined CNRS in 2003 as Chargé de Recherche and was promoted Directeur de Recherche in 2014. He is associated Editor to BMC Bioinformatics. He applied wavelet-based methodology to DNA sequence analysis with as major success (i) the understanding of the long-range correlations observed in DNA sequences as a key ingredient to the nucleosome positioning and dynamics and (ii) the prediction of more than 1000 putative germline DNA replication origins in the human genome allowing to propose a model of gene organization in the human genome, which integrates transcription, replication, and chromatin structure as coordinated determinants of genome architecture. More recently, he developed (i) multi-scale analysis protocols in order to objectively extract information about the mechanisms underlying the spatio-temporal DNA replication program in higher eukaryotes, (ii) modeling of DNA replication program and (iii) an analysis of selection for a DNA-encoded accessible nucleosomal array in human.
